PRE TREATMENT CARE

If you take antibiotics, you should complete the course before scheduling the procedure. You must wait 2 weeks after using depilatory creams, Botox, filler treatments, or laser treatments before RF.

Any deep exfoliation treatment – such as chemical peels or skin needling (deeper than 0.3mm), should be avoided a week prior to your treatment.

Drink plenty of water starting a few days prior to treatment as the more moisture in the skin, the better the results.

Remove all jewellery, metal items prior to treatment.

BEFORE TREATMENT

  • Discontinue using Accutane/Ro-Accutane for at least 6 months before treatment.

  • Avoid using Retin A,Tazorac or retinol for at least one week before treatment

  • No asprin to be taken for 5 days before treatment

  • Not hot baths, showers or heat treatments 24 hours before treatment

  • It is advised to purchase aloe vera as you will be required to apply this to the treated area for up to two weeks afterwards

  • Avoid wearing tight clothing on the area to be treated on the day of your appointment

  • If possible, avoid wearing make-up over the area to be treated on the day of your appointment

  • Cortisones and steroid creams should not be used prior to treatment as they can cause prolonged skin healing

AFTERCARE ADVICE

  • No hot baths or showers for two weeks after treatment

  • No heat for at least 24 hours, including saunas and steam rooms. No exercise, including swimming and walking (particularly in warm weather), that encourages increased heart rate for 2 weeks.  Sweat can cause a build up of bacteria which can cause infection

  • Do not wash or apply anything other than aloe vera for 24 hours.  Then apply twice a day for two weeks with clean hands and cotton wool pads. A rich night cream or moisuriser can be applied after 48 hours.

  • Do not apply alcohol based products to the area until healed. You can use aloe vera or witch hazel.

  • No make up until healed – if you have mineral make up or a barrier cream to use under makeup, this can be applied after 48 hours

  • Avoid touching the area

  • Do not pick or rub the area as this may cause scarring

  • Avoid sun exposure for 72 hours after treatment.  The skin may feel hot and this may aggravate it further, as well as risking the formation of small pigment patches due to the melanin in your skin which acts as a protector

  • Avoid heat for 2 weeks post thread vein treatment and until fully healed

  • Always use a minimum of spf20 regardless of weather

  • Refrain from using perfumed products on the treatment area

  • Avoid wearing tight clothing on the treatment area

  • Report any pustular infection or scabbing to the salon.  Do not pick or rub the skin as this may cause scarring

  • If a rash or minor infection appears at any time on the treated area, apply an antiseptic cream.  If the skin still seems inflamed or the area seems to be getting worse, visit your GP.

  • Do not use steroid creams or cortisones on the treated area until the skin has completely healed.
